Types of Galápagos Tours authorized by Galápagos National Park & Galápagos Marine Reserve are: Navigated Tours - Tourism visit activities at Galápagos National Park and Galápagos Marine Reserve are made on tourist boats on which passengers sleep on board. This activity is controlled both in the Management Plan of Galápagos National Park as well as the Management Plan of Galápagos Marine Reserve.
Day Tours - Tourism activity at Galápagos National Park and Galápagos Marine Reserve made on tourist boats on which passengers do not sleep on board. Instead, they always return to an inhabited port. This activity is controlled in the Management Plan of Galápagos National Park.
Bay and Snorkeling Tours - Tourism activity at Galápagos National Park and Galápagos Marine Reserve done on tourist boats on which passengers do not sleep on board. Instead, they always return to an inhabited port..
All Galapagos Island tour activity is controlled by the Management Plan of Galápagos National Park and the Management Plan of Galápagos Marine Reserve. The three class types are set according to characteristics, equipment and capacities. The three classes may perform operations with visits to land and snorkeling.
Class 3: Bay Tour. Does not permit SCUBA diving activities. Operations with visits to land are performed within permitted population recreation sites. Snorkeling is done within the range defined by the permitted recreational visitors’ sites next to the respective ports.
Class 2: Bay Tour and Snorkeling. Operations with visits to land are performed within permitted population recreation sites. SCUBA diving activities are permitted. norkeling operations are performed within the range defined by the permitted recreational visitors’ sites next to the respective ports.
Class 1: Bay and Snorkeling Tour. Operations with visits to land are performed within permitted population recreation sites. SCUBA diving activities are permitted. Snorkeling operations are performed on the sites included in the Galápagos Marine Reserve Management Plan. Passengers may be transported between inhabited ports according to the permits granted by DIGMER.
Tourism modalities incompatible with the Sustainability Strategy approved by the Council of the Galápagos National Institute and with the principles established in the Special Regime Law for Conservation and Sustainable Development of the Province of Galápagos are prohibited on Galápagos.
Use of all models of aquatic skis, jet skis or aquatic motor boats is prohibited at the Galápagos Marine Reserve along with aerial tourism and underwater fishing activities or fishing from tourist boats not qualified as fishing for sport notwithstanding other prohibitions established in the Special Regime Law, these Regulations, the Regulations of Fishing for Sport and Management Plans. |
